According to Pew Research, about 16 million adults say they have visited an online dating Web site or another site where they can meet people online. In addition, according to the report, an equal number of adults (48%) believe that the Internet is a good place to meet people.

About 18% of online daters have used the Internet to maintain a long-distance relationship.

There exist no statistics, however, for the number of long-distance, online daters who engage in camwhoring.
